Installing and Activating Microsoft Authenticator on iOS

The following instructions will require both a computer and your mobile device.

ON YOUR MOBILE DEVICE:
Go to the App Store, and enter Microsoft Authenticator into the search bar. 

NOTE: Some apps may have similar names or icons, however only Microsoft Authenticator will work with your TCCS account.
Tap on Get.
Double-click as instructed to begin the download.
When the app has finished downloading, tap on Open.
Select Allow.
Select OK.
Read through Microsoft’s Privacy Statement and click Continue. You can chose to share or not to share app usage data as you wish.
Tap on either the + or on Add account to create a new account.
In the Add account window, select Work or school account.
The next screen will give you three options on how to connect to your account. Select Scan a QR Code.
ON YOUR COMPUTER:
Log into the VPN (click here for instructions)

NOTE: If you are reading this during the onboarding process, the TCCS support agent will be creating your Office 365 account tied to your @claremont.edu account as part of the process. This account will have your user name, the password you selected earlier in the process and will be set to use Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile device as your multi-factor authentication (MFA).

If you already have your account info, and are adding Authenticator for the first time, the security settings on your account should have already been configured to allow MFA. Contact TCCS with a support ticket if you need assistance.
A pop-up window will appear with a QR code for you to scan with your mobile device.
ON YOUR MOBILE DEVICE:
Depending on your device’s settings, Authenticator may ask you for permission to use your device’s camera. Select OK.
Scan the QR code.
NOTE: if the app does not automatically open the scanner window, or if you accidentally close it:
1. a. click on the + symbol.
1. b. In the Add Account window, select Work or school account.
1. c. Tap on Scan a QR code.
You'll see that your account has been added to the app.
ON YOUR COMPUTER:
Once the app has been added to your account, click Next to continue.
You will be directed to enter the number shown on your screen into the field on the Mobile app to confirm the sign-in.

The popup window will confirm that your notification was approved. Click Next to complete the process.
