Installing and Activating Microsoft Authenticator on Android 

The following instructions will require both a computer and your mobile device.

ON YOUR MOBILE DEVICE:
Go to the Play Store, and enter Microsoft Authenticator into the search bar. 
Click on Install.
When the app has finished downloading, the button will change to Open. Click on it to launch the app.
Read through Microsoft’s Privacy Statement and click Continue. You can chose to share or not to share app usage data as you wish.
The next screen will give you three options on how to connect to your account. Select Scan a QR Code.
ON YOUR COMPUTER:
Log into the VPN (click here for instructions)

NOTE: If you are reading this during the onboarding process, the TCCS support agent will be creating your Office 365 account tied to your @claremont.edu account as part of the process. This account will have your user name, the password you selected earlier in the process and will be set to use Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile device as your multi-factor authentication (MFA).

If you already have your account info, and are adding Authenticator for the first time, the security settings on your account should have already been configured to allow MFA. Contact TCCS with a support ticket if you need assistance.
A pop-up window will appear with a QR code for you to scan with your mobile device.
Depending on your device’s settings, Authenticator may ask you for permission to use your device’s camera. Select While using the app.
Scan the QR code.
NOTE: if the app does not automatically open the scanner window, or if you accidentally close it:
a. click on the + symbol.
b. In the Add Account window, select Work or school account.
c. Tap on Scan a QR code.
You may see a pop-up saying Activating. Please wait. It should clear on its own after a few seconds.
You should now see that your account has been added in the app.
ON YOUR COMPUTER:
Once the app has been added to your account, click Next to continue.
This will lead you to the next page, which will prompt you to approve a sign-in on your app.
You will be directed to enter the number shown on your screen into the field on the Mobile app to confirm the sign-in.
ON YOUR MOBILE DEVICE:
Enter the number shown on your computer's screen into the field on the Mobile app and tap YES.
ON YOUR COMPUTER:
The popup window will confirm that your notification was approved. Click Next to complete the process.

Congratulations! You've completed installing and activating Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile device.
