Multiple Profiles (Microsoft Edge): Setting Up, Using, and Managing
Introduction
Setting up and using multiple browser profiles can be very helpful for keeping settings, favorites, and logins organized, especially if you have multiple accounts. Here are a few examples:
- You have a work account and a personal account.
-
You work for two different institutions and have an account for each.
- You have one account for general access to most systems and another account for specialized access and permissions.
In this guide, we’ll demonstrate the first scenario. We’ll set up a separate profile so that we can access Outlook using both a Pomona College account and a personal account. In the screenshot below, we’re already logged into Outlook using a Pomona College account.
Setting Up an Additional Profile
To set up a new profile,
- Click on the Profile button in the upper-left.
-
If you’re setting up a profile for a work or school account, click on Other Profiles, then + Set up a new work or school profile.

A new browser window will open to configure your new profile. Here you have two options: Sign in to sync data or Start without your data. Syncing your data can be especially useful if you use multiple computers.
-
For a work or school profile: If you’re signed into a college-owned Windows computer, Edge should automatically populate your account. Choose Sign in to sync data. For any other account or if you get an error signing in, choose Start without your data.
-
For a personal profile: Select Sign in to sync data and you will be prompted for credentials. Sign in to your personal account (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.)
